What is this elusive Circular Economy, and, in particular, WHAT exactly should we all be doing to ACTUALLY make it happen? 0 replies 5 views

The recent literature on generating a Circular Economy (CE) appears unanimous on the crucial and potentially determining role PI&Ds (Product Initiators & Designers) can have and should be empowered to take in systematically planning, and even taking responsibility for the life cycle impacts and fates of their respective products/services. The core of this rationale seems to centre the three primary tasks that PI&Ds can achieve:

  1. they are in the primary position to determine if a particular product or service is needed, and in what form and the circumstances of its utilisation,
  2.  they are then in the primary position to plan and even manage the after-first-use recovery pathway so as to minimise resource loss or value destruction, and
  3. they are in the primary position to  optimise quality recyclate inclusion  to the original production/manufacturing and even distribution processes
