The AIEN was established in November 2009 to promote and facilitate sustainable development through the application of industrial ecology (IE).
The organisation offers a forum in which members can keep in touch, canvas issues of interest and access various resources associated with the practice and study of IE.
The AIEN aims to provide members with a ‘window on the world’ of IE by relaying news, alerting them to developments in academia and practice and by organising events such as conferences, workshops and networking sessions.
For corporate members, especially, the AIEN can provide advice on practical matters relating to IE such as dealing with an environmental emergency, obtaining government approvals, the resources to engage for a particular project and how to locate them.
The AIEN aspires to become the ‘go-to’ organisation for all things to do with industrial ecology, including collaboration on the design, planning and implementation of IE projects.
